David Weeble, Mr. Leather Europe 2025: una voce europea a Chicago
David Weeble, Mr. Leather Europe 2025, ha appena annunciato pubblicamente che parteciperà all’International Mister Leather (IML) di Chicago il mese prossimo. Una decisione tutt’altro che semplice, maturata in un momento storico in cui la comunità LGBTQ+ affronta nuove e antiche minacce, non solo negli Stati Uniti ma in tutta Europa.

Nella sua dichiarazione, David riconosce il peso e la complessità del momento: diversi sash brothers e sisters europei hanno scelto di ritirarsi dalla competizione, preoccupati per la propria sicurezza e per il contesto politico sempre più ostile. Ma David ha fatto una scelta diversa: esserci, rappresentare, resistere.

Come Leather Club Roma, rispettiamo ogni scelta individuale presa dai nostri fratelli e sorelle nella scena fetish europea. Ma vogliamo anche dire con forza che sosteniamo la decisione di David: essere presenti, visibili, orgogliosi — anche quando fa paura — è un gesto politico e di solidarietà internazionale.
E siamo doppiamente orgogliosi, perché anche un titleholder italiano parteciperà a IML 2025, portando con sé non solo il tricolore ma anche il coraggio di chi sceglie di esporsi e raccontarsi in un momento così delicato. Insieme, portano avanti un messaggio di resistenza e resilienza, dando voce a un’Europa fetish che non arretra di fronte all’odio e alla paura.
David non parte da solo. Parte portando con sé le storie, le lotte e le speranze di tutta la comunità leather europea. E noi saremo con lui, a distanza, a fare il tifo e a ricordare che la visibilità è resistenza.

Dichiarazione integrale di David Weeble (Mr. Leather Europe 2025)
“As Mr Leather Europe 2025 there is an expectation that I will compete at International Mister Leather in Chicago in a few weeks. I am aware that several of my European Sash Siblings have withdrawn from the competition, but I am also aware of the title holders who still plan to attend, represent and compete. I support each of them in whichever path they have chosen. This is a difficult and scary decision for us all.
My decision is clear. I will attend IML next month. I will represent the ECMC and the European Leather community in its broadest sense. I believe that my non-attendance would achieve nothing for LGBTQ+ people in the USA. All it would do is remove a Queer European voice from a global stage. It is not just American policies which are attacking us; with the Transphobic re-defining of Woman in the UK yesterday, and the banning of Pride in Hungary, I believe that we must speak up and take space at every opportunity.
I remain in regular contact with all potential European candidates and have raised our concerns of safety when travelling into the USA, and while attending IML with the organisation itself. All is being done within their control to support us with this.
