Rome hosted ECMC’s Annual General Meeting for the first time. Organised by Leather Club Roma, the weekend brought the European leather community together and concluded with the election of Pieter Claeys as Mister Leather Europe 2009.
Leather Europe comes to Rome
The AGM is the annual assembly of clubs belonging to the European Confederation of Motorcycle Clubs: an opportunity to discuss their shared work and meet the people behind associations in different countries. For Leather Club Roma, an ECMC member since 2001, hosting it meant bringing a network of relationships built over the years to the capital.
The club’s account records more than 200 leathermen over the weekend, including over 100 visitors from abroad. This figure covers the programme as a whole and reflects the gathering’s international dimension.
The Gala Dinner and Mister Leather Europe
On Saturday 3 October 2009, the gala dinner and contest took place at Rome’s RistoTheatre, a theatre also used as a restaurant. The theatrical setting brought dinner and stage presentations together in one evening.

Five contestants represented Italy, Norway, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. The club’s report records interviews and live performances, giving each contestant an opportunity to introduce himself through words, presence and performance.
Pieter Claeys, Mister Leather Europe 2009
The title went to Pieter Claeys from the Netherlands, representing MS Amsterdam. In his message to the community, Pieter thanked the organisers and supporters, and listed meeting other clubs and representing Europe at International Mister Leather among his aims.

Italy on the podium
Roberto, representing Italy, placed second; Henrik from Denmark placed third. These results appear in LCR’s original contest report. The Mr. Leatherman Italy archive identifies Roberto as the Italian titleholder for 2009.
A new role for Daniel Dumont
At the Rome assembly, Daniel Dumont was elected ECMC Secretary by a large majority. The gathering therefore included two distinct decisions: choosing a European representative on stage and the person responsible for coordinating the confederation.
